If Jesus had never come, we would never hear the great words of the New Testament, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him" (John 3:16-17). We would be missing a Savior. There would be no forgiveness of our sins; no reconciliation to God. Grace and mercy would never be in our vocabulary.

If Jesus had never come, the woman caught in adultery would never have heard the words, “Neither do I condemn you, ‘Go now and leave your life of sin’” (John 8:11).

If Jesus had never come, Mary Magdalene would have died to her sin. Matthew would still be a tax collector for the rest of his life. Peter, James and John would have been fishermen for a living.

If Jesus had never come, we would never hear the words, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" (John 14:27). “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10b)

If Jesus had never come, we have no hope in heaven. Think what would it be like if there is no hope of heaven, our life on earth will be meaningless. What would you say to the funeral of a loved one if Jesus had not come? There would be no hope beyond the grave. There would be no hope of bodily resurrection. There would be no eternal life. Nothing to anticipate. But because Jesus came, all that has changed. We live in joyful anticipation of what is yet to come.

Because Jesus came, we experience forgiveness for our sins and the transformation of our hearts and minds. We have received the promise of heaven and eternal life. We know God is love, and every one who loves is born of God and knows God.

"But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba Father,.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.” (Galatians 4:4-7, NLT).
