The Heart Matters

February for many English-speaking countries set aside the month as the heart month. The 14th day is celebrated as Valentine’s Day. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending cards with a heart shape or flowers in red. Many people generally consider the heart as the center of emotions.

The Bible defines the heart as the wellspring of desire and decision to follow God. Thus we read in Scriptures about the hardened heart that refuses to do what God commands; the heart that is inclined to cling to God and obey His testimonies; the heart that is set to seek the Lord.

The heart apart from God is deceitful and desperately evil and corrupt. As a result, people turn to selfishness and evil rather than to God’s way of righteousness. The corrupt human heart cannot be changed by itself. The only remedy is to experience God’s grace, be born again through faith in Christ; and receive a new heart, one that hates evil and delights in doing God’s will. The person who repents from his heart of all sin and confesses in his heart that Jesus is Lord is born again and receives a new heart from God.

Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life”

Open your heart today and receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. It is time for a heart transplant. God wants everyone to have His heart. His heart is based solely on unconditional love for mankind. Open your heart and ask Jesus to come in (
Revelation 3:20
).
