The Holy Week

(March 16-23, 2008)

The Holy Week is a time to repent and turning away from sinful ways. The Book of Acts chapter 3 verse 19 says, "Repent, therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord." We are assured that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). It is also reminding ourselves that God is most merciful to those who come to Him for forgiveness.

Holy Week is a time to reflect the goodness of God that He sent His Son to die for us that we be in right standing with Him. It is a time to rejoice. We rejoice because Christ died and rose again, He is alive. We are no longer under the bondage of sin and death, but set free from condemnation. The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).
It is a time to remember the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We remember the ultimate sacrifice of our Savior and His tremendous power over death. And no matter how the world celebrates the season, we know that we celebrate it because Jesus gave us eternal life (Revelation 1:18).
